Quotations

Being exposed to my teammate's journals (and, conversely, allowing them access to mine) has created an interesting side-effect. Often, I am finding that entries seem to be a springboard for interaction and thought, and this leads me to wonder if kantoku's intent wasn't a sense of bonding through the means of makeshift discussion boards.

Case and point with Kabaji's latest udpate. While not apt to quote verbally, his journal seems to be rife with these manner of entries. (Of course, he could just be avoiding posts of any substance in any way he knows how.) Even so, quotations are one of my fondest things.

Quotations simply have a gift of expression what one wishes to say with grace and elegance often lost upon the common tongue. They depend on subtly and allusion, and although many phrases can transcend their original context, most gain more power once viewed in the proper light and reference. In knowing the quote, most times one can glean the personal situation of he who quoted it.

It is also a delightful way of conveying an opinion without having to utter a word. I am interested to know if Atobe will see himself in that quote, or if it he'll merely dismiss it as an idle reference. No matter what, the parallel is rather hard to dispute, let alone, ignore. And on that topic, I do hope Kabaji fares better than poor Basil Hallward did when it comes to romance, companionship, not to mention life and death.

Perhaps I should direct him to Wilde's other works in and exercise in levity. After all, I was always partial to The Importance of Being Earnest.
